DTD checking

Entries should comply with the DTD (see definition) so you usually shouldn't submit or accept entries that do not - unless you have other agreements with your publisher.

DPS monitors if your entry complies - you will see a non-compliant icon beside the entry in the navigation panel if it doesn't. This is an indication something is wrong, but not what exactly. DPS can give you a report on the errors an/or highlight the suspicious elements: open Tools and select report/highlight dtd errors. These are also available as short cuts: F3 and F4 resp.

In versions previous to 2.5, to validate the full entry it was necessary to select the root node before calling the check. From 2.5, the validation assumes the root tag to be selected.

Finally, if you do try to upload a non-compliant entry you will get a warning.

Other checks

Your publisher may want other checks carried out on the data before submitting/accepting it, for example a spell check. If there's a spell checker (or any other entry checker) configured for your project, the 'checking'-button at the top of the Tree view panel will be active:

Click it and it should open a page where you can select the check you want to carry out and launching it will produce a report with lines of errors. These should be clickable and take you to the offending place straight away.

If you want to send several entries (or a full batch) to the entry checker, you should:

1)select the entries in the navigation panel
2)From Tools menu, select Check entries
