Annotations are a means of communicating with other members of your editorial and management team. They can be comments, messages, requests for action and so on, and are attached to any XML element. In this section you will learn how to:
Note: The status options and rules relating to Annotations are configured especially for your project, so your Project Manager should provide you with guidelines for using them.
View Annotations
Annotations are signified by a red square
that appears next to the element name in the Tree View Panel. The Annotations are displayed in the right-hand column:

The annotation editor can be hidden so that only the title bar is visible. Click the title bar to show the editor; click it again to hide the editor. Clicking the red square next to the element name in the Tree View Panel also shows/hides the annotation editor.
Adding an Annotation
To add an Annotation:
1) | Click on the element to which you want to attach an Annotation. |
2) | Click the plus sign button in the Annotation editor:

3) | Type a topic name in the 'Topic' box. |
4) | Select a Status from the drop-down list. Note that the options available here will depend on what has been set up for your project. If you are unsure which to use, check with your Project Manager. |
5) | Type your comment in the 'Text' box. |
6) | Click the OK button to record your annotation, or Cancel to abandon it:

Editing an Annotation
To edit an existing Annotation:
1) | Click on the Annotation (red square ) to select it. This will expand the Annotation window in the panel on the right of the screen. |
2) | Select the specific Annotation from panel on the right, then Click the 'Edit' button:

3) | Modify the Topic, Status, and Text as desired, then click OK button to record your changes, or Cancel to discard your changes:

Deleting an Annotation
To delete an existing Annotation:

1) | Click on an existing Annotation to select it. |
2) | Click the minus button. |
3) | A dialogue box will appear with the message: 'Are you sure you want to delete this comment'. Click OK (or Cancel if you have changed your mind). |
