The DPS Website is one of the two main components of the DPS System (the other being the Entry Editor). Before accessing the Website you should be familiar with the DPS Workflow (as explained in the Introduction) as this gives a very useful explanation of where the DPS Website fits in. Understanding the overall Workflow is pivotal to mastering the system.
When a new project is set up using the DPS System all Users who work on that project will be given access to a website. This is what we call the 'DPS Website'. This is not a public website and it will require Users to log in.
The content of the DPS Website is primarily made up of tools for project management, such as batch creation, scheduling, progress reports and so on. For this reason, the DPS Website is an area of the DPS System primarily designed for Project Managers and System Administrators. However, other users (such as Editors and Lexicographers) will also need to access the DPS Website from time to time, to retrieve batches. The majority of Users will not need to access most areas of the DPS Website, so this section of the User Manual has been divided into three parts:
► | Getting Started: a guide to getting started with the DPS Website. This should be the starting point for all Users. |
► | Website Features for All Users: a section covering the basic functions of the DPS Website that all Users should be familiar with. |
► | Website Features for Project Managers/Administrators: a section covering advanced features that only Project Managers and System Administrators will need to be familiar with. |
You may also find it useful to consult additional information provided in the Appendix:
► | Glossary of terms used throughout the documentation. |
► | A list and explanation of the DPS Website Menus and Buttons. |
Work your way through the section/s above as relevant to your role. For example, if you are an Editor you should start with the Getting Started guide and follow on with Website Features for All Users.
As you make your way through this documentation it is very important to remember that the appearance of any screen may vary depending on the permissions you have. So don't be alarmed if you have fewer buttons or some different features on your screen compared to the screenshots within this document.
