Unlocking Entries

Show/Hide Hidden Text

In a system such as the DPS, that allows multiple users to work on the same content, it is important that only one person is allowed to amend a given entry at any one time. Therefore, when an editor downloads an entry to the Entry Editor, that entry is Locked so that only that particular editor can work on it. Other Users can view the entry but they can not edit it. The entry will remain locked until the editor who downloaded it unlocks it, either by uploading a modified version or by abandoning the attempt to edit it (see Lose Edits).

In exceptional circumstances it may be necessary to unlock an entry manually; for example, if an editor leaves the project suddenly and their batches have to be reallocated.

To unlock an entry:

1)Perform a search for the entries you wish to unlock (a Metadata Search for status:locked is often useful here as it will bring up all entries that are locked)
2)Select the entry or entries you wish to unlock
3)In the Edit panel on the right of the screen, click the arrow button next to 'Force unlock'. You will receive a confirmation message like this:

Important note: this process should only ever be undertaken by the Project Manager or System Administrator.
